One question I get asked all the time: "does any of this stuff you write about ever really scare you?"
The answer: not really. Most of it is really fairly harmless. The rest of it, as long as you treat it with respect, usually won't hurt you.
The other question I get asked all the time: "does anything really scare you?" The answer to which I've just had to change from "eh, not really" to "oh God yes."
There's been a hive of, for lack of a better word, fangirls on Japan's end of the Internet since--I guess about my second book or so. And I'm sure they're all wonderful, sweet, intelligent young ladies and all... but there's something kind of unsettling about a link e-mailed to you by a high school friend leading to a fan comic about you.
It's G-rated, thank God. And actually, it's kind of cute. Actually, it's really cute. It's just ...kind of weird.
So, thanks? I think.
In related news: if you have gotten your hands on some knick-knack that seems to be horribly cursed or haunted or otherwise Wrong and decide you should send it to me, please warn me via e-mail first. I'm glad you're sending them to me instead of trying to, I don't know, throw holy water on them yourself. But I would really appreciate some heads-up if you're going to send me something that will make my walls bleed or whatever. Thanks!
